Kyrgyz construction company Meadi LLC has filed a lawsuit against the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry over unpaid funds related to the construction of the Azerbaijani-Kyrgyz Friendship Park in Bishkek. The company claims that more than $ 3 million has not yet been paid for the project.
According to OC Media, the projects of the park and the associated Heydar Aliyev school were developed in 2019. The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry has allocated more than $8 million for both projects. The construction work was completed in 2022, and President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov took part in the opening ceremonies.
Three years later, Meadi LLC stated that the Azerbaijani government had not made payments on the project in full.
In the lawsuit, the company indicated that it had repeatedly contacted the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry with a demand to pay the missing amount, but this did not give any result.
The lawsuit also includes the Ministry of Finance of Azerbaijan. The Agency objected to this, stating that it was not a party to the contract.
The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry stated that the claim should be dismissed due to the expiration of the statute of limitations (missing the statute of limitations).
