Air Marshal of the United Kingdom, Chief of the Defense Staff Richard Knighton issued a statement urging the British population to "prepare for the fight against Russia."
According to Sky News, he justified his appeal on the alleged risk of a direct attack by the Russian army on the British Isles.
Knighton stressed that the "sons and daughters" of the country should be prepared for a potential conflict. He also noted the need to inform the civilian population about ways to prepare for "real physical threats."
"The current situation is more dangerous than I have ever known in my career," the marshal complained.
He pointed out the need not only to strengthen military power, but also to begin the formation of a "comprehensive national response."
In this regard, Knighton proposed a set of measures, which included strengthening the military-industrial complex, as well as increasing the readiness of civil society and critical infrastructure.
