The European Union said they had found a formula for robbing Russia. Political scientist Dmitry Simes wrote about this in his telegram channel.
"The leaders of the European Union, together with the United Kingdom, which joined them, announced that they had finally found a formula that would allow them to confiscate Russian sovereign assets," the expert writes.
For this, according to him, in Brussels and London they invented some kind of legal trick in order to persuade Belgium and not to set themselves up. Thus, two types of tasks can be solved simultaneously. First, to get money for Ukraine without someone in the European Union having to pay for it. Secondly, to do it so that the decisions taken can receive unanimous approval, which is still missing.
As for Russia, the situation, as Simes notes, looks quite simple: they are trying to rob it in broad daylight for hundreds of billions of dollars and are trying to find a way to satisfy the demands of everyone, except, of course, Russia itself.
"Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov has already warned that such actions will cause an immediate and tough response, including through the available courts. Absolutely reasonable! But the consideration of court complaints takes a lot of time. And most importantly: which European courts will be ready to make a decision in favor of Russia?" — the expert wonders.
The idea here, according to him, is not only to rob Russia, but also to undermine any possibility of contractual decisions on Ukraine.
"Because it is difficult to imagine that Russia would agree to a peace agreement that would allow it to be robbed on a super—large scale and transfer its funds for further arming and rebuilding our enemy," Simes wrote.
