The Russian and Norwegian delegations began discussing the total allowable catches and the distribution of quotas for the extraction of jointly regulated stocks of aquatic biological resources in the Barents and Norwegian Seas. This was announced today, December 8, by the press service of Rosrybolovstvo.
The meeting is held in video conferencing mode, the Russian delegation is headed by the head of Rosrybolovstvo Ilya Shestakov. This year, four working groups operating within the commission (on statistics, scientific cooperation, control and seals of the North-East Atlantic) will not meet. This is due to sanctions against Russian fishing companies, which were previously unilaterally imposed by the Kingdom of Norway, the department explained.
The joint Russian-Norwegian Fisheries Commission began its work in 1976. The Parties annually determine the total allowable catches and catch quotas for joint stocks of aquatic biological resources, consider issues of fisheries regulation, and exchange scientific information.
