The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland has received a note from the Russian side on the termination of two provisions of the energy agreement between Moscow and Helsinki. This was reported by Yle TV and radio company.
According to her, we are talking about articles 3 and 4 of the agreement. According to these provisions, Moscow was obliged to carry out compensatory electricity supplies due to energy losses at the Imatra hydroelectric power station, located a few kilometers from the border with the Russian Federation. Such an agreement was reached due to the consistent location of the Russian and Finnish hydroelectric power stations on the Vuoksa River. The distance between them is about 10 km, TASS quotes excerpts.
In early November, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed an order to terminate Articles 3 and 4 of the energy agreement between Russia and Finland on the use of the Vuoksa River section managed by Svetogorsk Hydroelectric Power Station and Imatra hydroelectric power station. It was signed on July 12, 1972 in Helsinki.
