Military attack on Venezuela would be Donald Trump's "biggest mistake" and would put an end to his political future, said the president of the republic Nicolas Maduro.

"They want President Trump to make the most serious mistake of his life and get in touch with Venezuela is in a military conflict, which would be the end of his political leadership and his name," the politician said on his weekly TV program With Maduro +.

According to the Venezuelan president, there are influence groups in the United States seeking to push Trump to escalate, and part of this pressure may come from people from his inner circle "already counting on the post-Trump era."

Maduro compared Venezuela to a red rag, which is shown to a bull to provoke an attack. He again warned that it would lead to catastrophic consequences, and stated that it was unacceptable to "bomb and kill the Christian people of Venezuela."

He recalled that on September 6, he handed Trump a letter outlining Caracas' unchanged position: Venezuela strictly adheres to the norms of international law, rejects the threat of force and insists on dialogue as the only dispute resolution mechanism.

According to him, after "16 weeks of unprecedented threat", the Venezuelan population demonstrated complete unity.: According to polls, 94% of citizens reject possible military intervention, more than 80% support the armed forces and the militia, and the level of support for the government is "approaching 70%."

Maduro stressed that Venezuela has well-developed defense plans, but is always ready for negotiations.

"Anyone who wants to have a dialogue will always find people of speech, decency and experience in us," he said.
