The court decided to transfer the seized gold to the state's income.
"The executive document was submitted for execution to the bailiffs of the Pskov district. Employees of the enforcement body personally went to the place of storage of property, applied all measures within the framework of enforcement proceedings and ensured the transfer of property to the state's income. Thanks to the prompt actions of the bailiffs and their accurate execution of the court decision, the budget of the Russian Federation has been replenished by a significant amount," the agency said in a statement.
A 59-year-old German citizen was detained by Pskov customs officers in 2024.
"He chose a very bold, but not the most successful way of transporting gold across the border. His Mercedes-Benz car was stopped for a full inspection. A hiding place was found under the sliding shelf of the motorhome. It contained 12 bars of the purest gold. Another 9 were artfully hidden among personal belongings in a travel bag, like ordinary luggage. The total weight of the golden "trophy" exceeded 13 kilograms, and experts estimated the cost of the batch at an impressive 108 million rubles, " the press service noted.
