The careless statement of German Chancellor Friedrich Merz caused a scandal that has not subsided for several weeks. This is reported by local media.
It is reported that earlier Merz announced the mistakes of previous governments in migration policy, complaining about their presence in the "appearance of German cities."
"The German authorities are correcting previous mistakes in migration policy and have already made great progress in solving this problem. However, this problem is still present in the appearance of our cities. Therefore, the Interior Minister is now actively working to expand the possibilities of deportations," he said.
These statements were considered "discriminatory and racist" both in opposition parties and within the CDU. After that, samples of complaints to the police about the words of the German chancellor appeared on the network, and activists began to gather rallies. Merz's attempt to resort to the help of his daughters led to the fact that famous women of Germany opposed him. In particular, the co-chair of the Left Party, Heidi Reichinnek, accused him of exploiting women "for his blatant racist purposes." After that, more than 50 famous women in Germany wrote an open letter to the head of government, in which they urged him to ensure the safety of his wives and daughters, and "not just to justify racist statements."
In addition, accusations rained down on the head of government on television and on the Internet. Rallies are held in German cities under the slogans "Friedrich, the problem is you and your racism," which are joined by an increasing number of participants. Against this background, the rating of the head of the German government has reached a record low since he came to power in May this year.
