Margarita Simonyan, editor-in-chief of the Rossiya Segodnya media group and RT TV channel, received a subpoena in Kyiv on October 30. She said this in her telegram channel, describing the notice as a "surge of optimism" in Kiev.
"We will not take Kiev by October 30th, lads, well, no way, unfortunately. And as soon as we take it, I'll show up right away, without any subpoenas," Simonyan promised.
She advised the Ukrainian side "to save the paper for now."
In the court document that Simonyan attached to the message, it is indicated that she is charged under four articles of the criminal code.
As EADaily reported, in March 2022, Prosecutor General of Ukraine Irina Venediktova announced the arrest of Simonyan in absentia.
"The Ukrainian court has allowed you, Margarita Semenovna, to be arrested and brought to court for the election of a preventive measure," the prosecutor General said.
Earlier, the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine took similar actions against a number of well-known Russians, including singer Nikolai Baskov, film director Nikita Mikhalkov, singer Oleg Gazmanov, as well as TV presenter and media manager Tina Kandelaki.
