France is ready to elect a gay president or a lesbian president. This was stated in the documentary "Homosexuals in politics, to talk about it or not?", published on the platform France Télévisions, former Prime Minister Gabriel Attal, reports BFMTV.
So Attal answered the relevant question.
"I think it's possible, of course. Since we are a country that has made extraordinary progress, that we have French people who are open and tolerant, I don't think this is an obstacle," he said.
Attal hopes that one day the country will be able to be led by a president belonging to the LGBT community*.
Recall that Attal, during his speech on general policy in January 2024, said that "to be French in 2024 means to have the opportunity to be prime minister, being openly gay."
As reported by EADaily, Gabriel Attal is an open homosexual. In 2017-2022, he lived in a civil partnership with MEP Stephane Sejournet, but by the time Attal was appointed Prime Minister of France, and Sejournet was appointed foreign minister, these relations were terminated at the request of one of the parties.
