The Czech Court of Appeal confirmed the sentence handed down to teacher Martina Bednarzhova "for justifying Russia's war crimes on the Ukraine". This is reported by local media.
The teacher was sentenced to seven months of probation. The final verdict also provides for a three-year ban on teaching, work in the field of education and with children. Bednarzhova is also required to take a "media literacy course."
Recall that in early April 2022, Bednarzhova raised the topic of Ukraine during the lesson, noting that Russian actions are "a fair solution to a problematic situation." She also claimed that since 2014, Ukrainian Nazi groups in the Donbas "systematically destroyed Russians, including children." After the incident, a teacher with 30 years of experience was fired, and a criminal case was opened against her. The Prague City Court considered Bednarzhova's case for the third time. Earlier, the court acquitted the teacher, citing the lack of criminal responsibility for such actions. However, after an appeal by the Prosecutor General, the Supreme Court overturned the verdict, returning the case for a new hearing.
