The head of Rosrybolovstvo Ilya Shestakov admitted that Russia may restrict the activities of fishing vessels from Norway by the end of this year. TASS informs about this today, October 22.
This information became known on the sidelines of the International Fisheries Forum and the exhibition of the fishing industry, seafood and technology.
"We held a meeting. The Norwegian side stated that they allegedly work within the framework of our agreement, with which we categorically disagree. They will not lift any restrictions yet," he said.
"We are now preparing retaliatory measures that we will announce to the Norwegian side in a timely manner. While our further negotiations are on pause, the timing of the next consultations has not been determined, including the holding of a joint commission on fisheries, which we need to hold in order to distribute the volume for next year," Shestakov added.
The representative of the organization also clarified that the Norwegian restrictions have not yet had an impact on fish stocks.
"This year we are still acting according to the agreements that we reached in 2024. Therefore, now, until the end of the year, the situation is developing as it should have developed," Shestakov said.
EADaily reminds that in July 2025, Norway imposed a ban on fishing for companies from Russia. We are talking about fishing in the exclusive economic zone of the Scandinavian country.
