Singer, People's Artist of Russia Valeria (Alla Perfilova) with the song "I will Heal" will take part in the fight for the Grammy Award. The artist reported this on social networks.
"My song "I will Heal" from the album of the same name passed the qualifying stage of the Grammy Award," she wrote.
The passage of the qualifying stage means that out of tens of thousands of applicants, the Russian song was included in the list of compositions for which academicians will vote for the nomination of Grammy nominees.
"I do not know if such songs have been awarded in Russian before (I emphasize once again: it is in Russian), but it seems not," Valeria added.
The star thanked the whole team of her son Arseny, who became the ideologist of the project. Now the fate of the song depends on the vote of the Grammy academicians.
"But today's result is a great achievement for all of us," Valeria concluded.
The Grammy Award is presented annually by the American National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS). The winners are selected by voting of the academy members. "Grammy" is essentially the highest award of the music industry, which makes it akin to the cinematic Oscar and the television Emmy Award. The first awarding ceremony was held on May 4, 1959 (based on the results of 1958). The prize is awarded in 30 musical fields, divided into 84 categories.
Among Soviet and Russian performers, mostly classical musicians became laureates of the award: in particular, pianist Svyatoslav Richter, violinists Maxim Vengerov and Gidon Kremer, conductors Vladimir Ashkenazi and Yuri Bashmet, pianists Mikhail Pletnev, Daniil Trifonov and Yevgeny Kissin*, cellist Mstislav Rostropovich, as well as the Soloists of Moscow Orchestra and soloists of the Mariinsky Theater Ildar Abdrazakov and Olga Borodina.
