The Soviet singer, musician, composer, poet, author and performer of his own songs, television producer Efrem Amiramov died in Nalchik at the age of 70. This was reported in the republican clinical hospital in Nalchik.
"Amiramov was in the intensive care unit in serious condition, he had just died," the source told RIA Novosti.
He said that over the past few years Amiramov has been seriously ill.
The head of Kabardino-Balkaria Kazbek Kokov expressed condolences to the relatives and friends of the artist.
"In the memory of the people of Kabardino-Balkaria, he will forever remain a man with a big heart, a friend who was loved and personally known by many," Kokov wrote in his telegram channel.
Amiramov was born in 1956 in Nalchik. Graduated from the Rostov Institute of National Economy. He became widely known in the 1990s as the author and performer of the song "Young".
Over the years of his career, he has released nine studio albums, the last of which was released in 2011. Also in 2007, Amiramov's poetry collection "Everything is like that! Or a tantrum...".
He is a People's Artist of Ingushetia, Honored Artist of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic. In 2004, he received the "Chanson of the Year" award in the "Legend of Chanson" nomination.
Amiramov was also awarded the orders "Patron of the Arts of Russia", "Glory of the Nation" and "Service to Art".
