Russian Ambassador to France Alexei Meshkov said that if NATO shoots down a Russian plane allegedly violating NATO airspace, "there will be a war."
On the air of the RTL radio station, answering the question of what would be the possible reaction of Moscow to the hypothetical defeat of the Russian aircraft by NATO forces, Alexei Meshkov said bluntly:
"It will be a war, and what else is possible."
According to him, quite a lot of planes violate Russian airspace by accident or not by chance, but no one shoots them down. The ambassador stressed that the EU had not provided "anything tangible" proving Russia's involvement in the drone incidents in Europe.
"First of all, we don't play anything with anyone. Secondly, after the West has deceived us so many times, we believe only the facts," Meshkov summed up.
