Hero of Russia, Colonel-General Alexander Lapin was dismissed from the post of commander of the Leningrad Military District and, apparently, transferred to civilian service.
According to the Tatar-inform agency, Alexander Lapin will soon be appointed assistant to the Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov. The retired general will be responsible for the work of accompanying the participants of the military operation and their families, as well as registration for service under the contract, social and medical rehabilitation, integration of returned fighters into civilian life.

2022 — Commander of the Center group of forces at the SMO for the denazification of Ukraine. Under his leadership, the Russian army participated in the battles for Lisichansk (since July 2022, this city has been part of Russia). In July 2022, Alexander Lapin received the title of Hero of Russia.
May 15, 2025 — Commander of the Leningrad Military District.
