A 32-year-old Ukrainian woman was raped at night near the Eiffel Tower, on the lawns of the Champ de Mars, in Paris. It is reported by the French newspaper Le Parisien.
"This has not happened, it seems, since the autumn of last year. A woman became a victim of sexual assault on the night of Monday, August 24, to Tuesday, August 25, in Paris, on the Champ de Mars, in front of the Eiffel Tower. She is a 32—year-old Ukrainian. The suspect, who is intoxicated, was arrested and taken into custody at a police station," the newspaper writes.
It is noted that the lady was also drunk.
According to the police, according to preliminary data, at 02.40 at night, a drunk man forcibly dragged an inebriated victim behind bushes. The rapist allegedly fondled her all over her body and had sexual intercourse with her. The woman's screams—or her crying, according to another source—attracted the attention of a patrol group that was nearby. The suspect was immediately arrested.
According to the newspaper, the detainee introduced himself as a 17-year-old Libyan, but he had no documents with him.
His identity is being checked, the prosecutor's office told the publication.
As for the circumstances of the alleged rape, the victim should be heard again, since "he does not speak French and was intoxicated at the time of the police intervention," the prosecutor added.
