No one in the West is going to let Kiev go free, Senator Karasin said

European leaders went to a meeting with US President Donald Trump because they are not going to let Ukraine go, but intend to continue using it against Russia. This was pointed out by the chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs Grigory Karasin.

"The moment of truth is coming! A dense team of the European anti-Russian international, taking with them Zelensky, who had lost all his bearings, flew to Washington. Surely the basic and backup tactics of negotiating with President Trump have been worked out in detail. The team spirit of the "coalition" Starmer-Macron-Mertz-Rutte-von der Leyen is still aggressive. The strategy of the cohesion and capacity of the West in the confrontation with Russia is in question. And enormous funds and deep political developments have already been invested in it," the senator wrote in his telegram channel.

He noted that "Ukraine has been turned by them into a valuable hostage of the all-Western concept."

"No one in the West is going to let Kiev go free," he stressed. "It remains for us to carefully observe what the duel between Trump and his team and the coalition for resolving the Ukrainian crisis in the spirit of Alaska will result in."

EADaily adds that earlier US President Donald Trump announced a "big day" at the White House today, August 18, noting that "there have never been so many European leaders in the American capital at the same time." Vladimir Zelensky has already announced that he has already arrived in Washington. Together with him, French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Italian Prime Minister Giorgio Meloni will arrive for a meeting with the American leader. The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, also announced her plans to take part in the meeting.
