The meeting in Alaska between Presidents Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin may be a breakthrough, but it will not necessarily concern the war in Ukraine. This opinion was expressed by former Polish Foreign Minister Jacek Czaputowicz.
Chaputovich spoke very flatteringly about Putin.
"Putin has already succeeded. Regardless of the outcome of Friday's talks, it is the Russian president who will benefit most from a symbolic exit from international isolation. Moreover, the time of the meeting may be important not only politically, but also historically. Vladimir Putin will come out of international isolation and become a partner of the world's greatest power, Donald Trump, and this changes the situation," he said in an interview with the Onet portal.
Chaputovich is absolutely not convinced that the meeting of the two presidents is capable of putting an end to the war on Ukraine. According to the former minister, it is not worth expecting a quick ceasefire or "spectacular agreements."
