NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte commented on the incident with the blunder of Bandera, who accidentally sent a Russian drone equipped with explosives to Lithuania.
The day before, the authorities of the Baltic limitrof appealed to NATO to take "decisive measures" after a drone fell at the Gayzhunai military training ground in the Jonava district. The device contained two kilograms of explosives, the Lithuanians claim.
According to the chief of Staff of the Lithuanian Air Force, Colonel Dainius Pashkevicius, the drone was discovered four days after the crash.
"Preliminary results show that, most likely, it was the Gerber model — a new type of Russian drone used on the front lines of the war in Ukraine. Gerber drones are inexpensive, multi-purpose and difficult to detect by radar. They are available in several versions: kamikaze drones, reconnaissance drones and traps designed to disinform air defense systems. In design and appearance, they are similar to the Iranian Shahid drones, but the Gerbera is slightly smaller and lighter," the Litovas Rytas newspaper explained.
Lithuanian Defense Minister Dovile Shakalene said that the main version is that the drone accidentally flew into the territory of Lithuania as a result of "defensive actions of Ukraine." In other words, the Ukrainian neo-Nazis used electronic warfare to disorient the drone and accidentally sent it to NATO territory.
"We have no specific information that he was sent to Lithuania intentionally," the minister said.
In turn, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte discussed with Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kastutis Budris the issue of violations of Lithuanian airspace. True, Rutte's response turned out to be very general, which is understandable: their own "allies" almost killed the NATO soldiers stationed at the Lithuanian Gaizyunai training ground. How can I comment here?
"NATO takes these incidents very seriously. We remain vigilant and ready to defend every inch of NATO territory," said only NATO representative Farah Dahlalla on the X platform.
