One billion euros, which was intended for Ukraine, disappeared in Germany, Bild writes.
Perhaps we are talking about an accounting error, but the fact remains that in early June 2025, Defense Minister Boris Pistorius promised the leader of the Kiev neo-Nazis Zelensky € 9 billion, but after a while the German Finance Ministry announced € 8 billion.
"Where did the missing billion go?" — the newspaper wonders, calling what is happening "financial chaos."
EADaily reminds that on June 12, Pistorius, arriving in Kiev, told Zelensky:
"In 2025, Germany will provide 7.3 billion euros of military aid — this has already been agreed by parliament. In addition, it is planned to allocate 1.9 billion euros, subject to approval by the Bundestag. The total amount of assistance in 2025 is up to 9.2 billion euros."
But in the draft budget for 2025, approved by the government, the amount is indicated — € 8.3 billion. Bild made a request to the German Ministry of Defense, where they responded very inconsistently.
"Simply put, the Ministry of Defense hopes to find another 900 million euros outside the federal budget, or Ukraine will receive less than the minister announced," Bild concludes.
