Senior officials of the Donald Trump administration held a series of emergency meetings on Thursday about the public conflict between the US president and Elon Musk, Reuters reports, citing informed sources.

According to sources, the meetings discussed the consequences of Musk's scandalous statements on the social network X.

On Thursday, between Musk and Trump had a public skirmish over a large-scale bill proposed by the US president to reduce federal spending, which Musk called a "disgusting abomination." The entrepreneur also called for "killing the bill." Trump responded by saying that he was disappointed with Musk, as he "did a lot for him." After that, Musk expressed the opinion that it was thanks to him that Trump became president, and the Republicans gained control of both houses of the US Congress.

After a skirmish with the president, the stock quotes of Musk's Tesla company at the opening of trading on Wall Street on Thursday collapsed by almost 9%.
