The Russian Foreign Ministry pointed to the largest debtor of the UN

According to the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, Washington owes the United Nations (UN) more than $ 3 billion. RIA Novosti informs about this today, June 4.

The diplomat also recalled that earlier, a businessman from the United States, Elon Musk, called for cutting off UN funding.

"If a representative of a large business in the United States, until recently a representative of the US apparatus, a person whose opinion in society in the United States and in the world attracts attention, calls for depriving the UN of funding, let's remind that at the moment it is the United States of America that is the largest debtor to the United Nations... Today the debt of the United States of America to The United Nations has already exceeded the three billion dollar mark," Zakharova said.

Earlier, in January 2025, according to the diplomat, the States owed the UN $ 2 billion.

"My question is, what kind of funding is Musk talking about? Is it like an attempt to say: "To whom I owe, I forgive everyone"? Is this how they write off their debts? Or is it that he (Musk — EADaily) didn't know that they (USA — EADaily) were in debt?"  Zakharova asked.
