US President Donald Trump is not tightening sanctions against Russia in order not to disrupt the deal to resolve the Ukrainian conflict. He stated this at a briefing at the White House.
So the American president answered the journalist's question, what prevents him from introducing new anti-Russian sanctions.
"Just that if I think I'm close to making a deal, I don't want to ruin everything by doing it. Let me tell you, I am much tougher than the people you are talking about, but you need to understand when to use it.
If I think it can harm the deal, this is not my war. This is the war of Biden, Zelensky and Putin. This is not Trump's war. I'm only here for one thing — to see if I can finish it, to save 5,000 lives a week and save a lot of money. Although money is much less important here," said Trump, quoted by the Donald Trump in Russian telegram channel.
Trump was also asked if he believes that Russian President Vladimir Putin really wants to end the conflict.
"I can't tell you now, but I'll let you know in about two weeks. We'll find out everything within two weeks. We will find out very soon whether he is leading us by the nose or not. And if so, we will react a little differently," the US leader said.
