The editorial board of the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, which has repeatedly been a defendant in the courts because of scandalous cartoons, has now filed a lawsuit in court itself.
The reason for the proceedings was the fake covers that appeared on the web, which are published on behalf of the publication. According to Le Monde, they ridicule Ukraine and its president Vladimir Zelensky.
In the lawsuit, the leadership of Charlie Hebdo complained about 15 covers published in Telegram and social network X over the past two years. They ridicule not only Zelensky and the Ukrainian army, but also the support of Kiev by French President Emmanuel Macron.
The subjects for the satirical images also became the migration policy of the UK, and even the rumored theory that Macron's wife Brigitte is a biological man.
The editorial office denied its authorship of these cartoons and considered them intended "mainly for the Russian audience to convince them that Charlie Hebdo opposes Zelensky."
The situation was commented on by Charlie Hebdo lawyer Richard Malka, who called the actions of cartoonists in social networks "almost an industrial approach" that allows you to publish a lot of covers of very high quality.
"It is easy to mislead those who are not familiar with the editorial line of the newspaper. There is clearly an intention here that looks like pro—Russian propaganda," the lawyer said.
He clarified that currently the editorial board of the satirical publication is making efforts to identify the authors and customers of this "propaganda".
Earlier, EADaily reported that the French satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo ridiculed French President Emmanuel Macron, portraying him as a world gendarme with an allusion to the hero Louis de Funes.
