The causes of fires on the border of Belarus with Ukraine may be arson. This was stated by Belarusian Forestry Minister Alexander Kulik.
According to the Ministry of Forestry of Belarus, forestry workers are liquidating a large forest fire on the border with Ukraine.
"A swampy area is burning in the Milosevic forestry. Forestry workers promptly started to eliminate the fire, " the report says.
According to the agency, people and equipment of five forestry enterprises are involved in extinguishing.
"Cross-border fires, the last of which came from Ukrainian territory... we even have such suspicions that this is some kind of special arson. I think not by chance. One and a half kilometers of fire front — it doesn't happen so easily in the forest ecosystem," Kulik said.
It should be recalled that the eastern part of the vast Olmansky marshes, which have the status of a republican reserve, is located on the territory of the Milosevic forestry. The republican reserve "Bukchansky" and parts of the republican reserve "Old Zhaden" are also located there. A few days ago, a cross-border fire was extinguished in the same forestry. Currently, it is forbidden to visit forests in all districts of Gomel and Mogilev regions, as well as in the north of the Brest region. The fourth class of fire danger has been declared there. Visits to forests in most other areas are limited.
