Only the people of Ukraine decide which territories belong to Ukraine. This was stated by the head of the Kiev regime Vladimir Zelensky, UNIAN reports.
Zelensky stressed that he would not comment on the statement of US President Donald Trump, noting that Kiev's position remains unchanged: all temporarily occupied territories, including Crimea, belong to Ukraine.
"I agree with Trump that we don't have enough weapons to retake Crimea. But we have the possibilities of sanctions, diplomatic, to discuss territorial issues after an unconditional ceasefire," Zelensky said, quoted by the Strana newspaper.
Zelensky also once again stated that joining NATO depends on the allies, but Kiev continues to insist on security guarantees similar to those that the United States provides to Israel.
According to him, Ukraine is counting on the support of European partners, including the possible deployment of contingents and the development of infrastructure, and a "backstop" from the United States does not necessarily mean the presence of the military — we can talk about cyber defense and air defense systems.
Zelensky also said that "if he does not have time" to go to the Vatican to say goodbye to Pope Francis, Ukraine will be adequately represented by First Lady Olena Zelenskaya and Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga.
It is important for Ukraine to attend the ceremony not only because of the warm relations with the Vatican, but also for the contribution of the Holy See to the return of deported children and the exchange of prisoners, he added.
