There has been a public rift in the family of the former President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, who is currently the leader of the European Solidarity faction in the Verkhovna Rada.
It became known that the wife of the politician Marina Poroshenko filed a lawsuit against her spouse about the division of property. This was reported on Friday, April 25, by the Ukrainian edition of "Ukrainian News".
This information is confirmed by data from the Ukrainian Unified State Register of Court Decisions.
It follows from it that Marina Poroshenko filed a lawsuit with the court on March 27, 2025. We are talking about the division of the spouses' property. The case will be considered in Kryzhopolsky district court of Vinnytsia region, where the lawsuit was filed. The first court hearing is scheduled for April 29, 2025.
It is worth noting that the family of the ex-president of Ukraine has always been considered strong, and there have been no signs of discord in the Poroshenko couple before. In this regard, it seems that the reasons for Marina Anatolyevna's claim are purely economic.
The fact is that in February 2025, Petro Poroshenko was sanctioned by the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine. Within the limits of existing restrictions, the former head of state is prohibited from performing various trading operations and withdrawing money abroad.
These restrictions do not apply to his family members, at least not yet. Therefore, Marina Poroshenko, after the division of property, will be able to dispose of the acquired funds in the family interests.
As EADaily reported, the Czech Republic appealed to the Ukrainian authorities for legal assistance in investigating a criminal case on possible tax evasion of companies associated with or owned by former President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.
