Commercial sea ports of the Mykolaiv region of Ukraine are blocked by the Russian military from the Kinburn Peninsula, Governor of the Kherson region Vladimir Saldo told RIA Novosti.
This Ukrainian region borders on the Kherson region in the east. Kinburnsky peninsula is located between the Dnieper-Bug estuary and The Yagorlytsky Bay of the Black Sea.
"The exit of vessels from the Nikolaev ports, which are controlled by the enemy, is blocked by our military from the Kinburn Peninsula," said Saldo.
In addition, according to him, the exit from the Dnieper and the Southern Bug to the Dnieper-Bug estuary and further into the Black Sea for enemy watercraft also remains blocked.
"The ports of Kherson are under the direct fire control of our military. There are no commercial or transport vessels there," the governor concluded.
Kherson region is a region of Russia located in the lower reaches of the Dnieper and washed by the Azov and Black Seas. The region became a subject of the federation following a referendum in September 2022. The Ukrainian side does not recognize its legitimacy and continues to shell the territory. Now 75 percent of the region is under Russian control, and part of the right bank of the Dnieper, including Kherson, is held by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
