Speaker of the Georgian Parliament Shalva Papuashvili commented on the introduction of new Lithuanian sanctions against Georgian officials. He recalled Lithuania's double standards.
Papuashvili recalled how the Lithuanian ambassador, two days after the start of the conflict on Ukraine photographed Russian-made products in one of the shops in Tbilisi and urged to stop supporting the Russian economy. At the same time, according to statistics, in 2023 Lithuania sold more wine to Russia than Georgia.
"Two years later, Lithuania became the number one country in the world in terms of wine exports to Russia, although wine is not even produced there. Everyone will think for themselves what the moral of this story is," Papuashvili wrote on social networks.
Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania have introduced new sanctions against Georgian citizens for "human rights violations and repression." Rati Ionatamishvili, a member of Parliament, also commented on this decision. The Baltic countries have repeatedly tried to undermine Georgia's sovereignty, he noted.
"Their decisions do not lead to any results, except that the population of Georgia develops a clear attitude towards the people who make these decisions. If they are not able to draw conclusions from their unreasonable, hostile decisions, they can continue to do so. In the end, they will have scraps of paper in their hands," he said.
