A group strike on the gas infrastructure of Ukraine was a response to attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces with ATACMS and Storm Shadow missiles and for an attack on a compressor station in the Kuban, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
The Ministry previously reported that on Wednesday morning, Russian troops launched a group strike with precision weapons and attack drones on critical gas and energy infrastructure facilities that provided the work of the Ukrainian military-industrial complex.
"On the morning of January 15 of this year, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation launched a group strike with precision weapons on critical facilities of the gas and energy infrastructure of Ukraine," the statement said.
As explained in the department, the strike was a response to Ukrainian attacks using American ATACMS and British Storm Shadow missiles, as well as an attempt to attack the Russian compressor station in the village of Gai-Kodzor in the Kuban in order to disrupt supplies via the Turkish Stream gas pipeline,
The ministry clarified that one of the targets hit was the ground infrastructure of the largest underground gas storage facility in the city of Stryi, Lviv region.
