In Russia, from February 1, 2025, additional indexation of pensions is possible if the inflation rate exceeds the projected figures. About this Pravda.The representative of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs Svetlana Bessarab said.
Bessarab noted that preliminary data received on the last working day of 2024 indicate that the actual inflation rate is already higher than expected. However, to confirm these data, Rosstat should conduct additional calculations, since at the end of December, active trading activity may affect price dynamics.
Calculation of additional indexing
According to Bessarab, the final size of the indexation will be determined based on data on actual inflation for 2024. Additional payments to pensioners will be calculated as the difference between the indexation already carried out and the real level of price growth.
New pension indexation rules
Starting from January 1, 2025, the pensions of working pensioners have been increased by 7.3%. This became possible thanks to a new law that equalized the indexation of pensions of working pensioners with non-working ones.
In addition, representatives of the State Duma recalled that the amount of pensions in 2025 depends on the calculation of pension points.
