Russia and Azerbaijan have suspended negotiations on a friendly football match, Sport24 reports.
It is alleged that at one of the last meetings of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), representatives of the Russian Football Union (RFU) and the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan (AFFA) discussed the possible holding of the game in the first half of 2025, but it did not come to official negotiations on the match. Now the meeting is not discussed because of the tension in relations between Baku and Moscow.
According to media reports, the reason for the suspension of negotiations was the crash of the Baku—Grozny Azerbaijani Airlines plane in Kazakhstan on December 25.
