Russian actors Yura Borisov and Mark Edelstein have entered the preliminary list of nominees for the main British BAFTA Film Award — the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Award. This is evidenced by the information on the official portal of the award.
Both artists are nominated in the same category "Best Supporting Role" for their work in Sean Baker's film "Anora". At the same time, the film itself became a contender for the BAFTA award in seven categories, including Best Film, best Director and Best Lead Actress.
The shortlist of applicants will be announced on January 15, and the award ceremony will be held on February 16.
As EADaily reported, Borisov had previously received an award from the Los Angeles Film Critics Association, as well as the Gotham Awards, for his role in the film "Anora".
He was also nominated for the Independent American Cinema Independent Spirit Awards, the Critics Choice Awards (The Choice of the Association of American Film Critics) and the Golden Globe.
The film "Anora" is the favorite of the Oscar race in the Best Film category, this year the film won the Palme d'Or at the 77th Cannes Film Festival.
