NATO spokesman Farah Dahlalla expressed condolences over the crash of the Azerbaijan Airlines plane near the Kazakh city of Aktau and called for a comprehensive investigation.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims of the Azerbaijan Airlines plane crash. We wish the victims of the plane crash a speedy recovery and call for a comprehensive investigation," she wrote on the social network X.
The passenger airliner Embraer 190 of AZAL Airlines, operating a Baku — Grozny flight, crashed three kilometers from Aktau Airport on December 25. There were 67 people on board, including 37 citizens of Azerbaijan, of whom 23 people were killed, 16 citizens of Russia, seven of whom were killed, six citizens of Kazakhstan, all of them died, and three citizens of Kyrgyzstan, all of them survived.
The causes of the crash of the airliner are now being investigated by special commissions of Azerbaijan, Russia and Kazakhstan.
Azerbaijan Airlines flights on the Baku — Grozny — Baku and Baku — Makhachkala — Baku has been suspended until the crash investigation is completed.
