What does Russia gain from the defeat of Yun Is the juice ready?

South Korean President Yun On December 3, Seok-yel suddenly declared martial law in order to destroy the "North Korean forces" in parliament on the grounds that opposition parties were "carrying out subversive work." But seven hours later he reversed his decision, causing confusion all over the world even with the justification of his intentions, not to mention the speed of "changing shoes in the air."

It should be noted that the president (forms the government) and the parliament in South Korea are at different political poles. The opposition Democratic Party of Korea rules in parliament, and Yuna's government party, The Power of the People, is considered "conservative." The President has steadily pursued a policy of removing objectionable senior officials and blocked many initiatives of the parliament, which he had every right to do. And this conflict was not the reason for the introduction of martial law. Then why did he do it?

The first version says that this is an unsuccessful attempt by the United States to keep its henchman in power. The fact is that Yun won the presidential election in 2022 with an advantage of 1% of the vote over the leader of the opposition mentioned above through manipulation, because the United States relied on him. His task was to follow Washington's policy on Ukraine and Japan, forming an anti-Russian and anti-Chinese front.

For example, Yun approved the deployment of THAAD missile defense systems in South Korea, resumed large-scale joint military exercises with the United States, and even wanted to re-deploy American nuclear weapons in the country. He also defiantly ate fish caught near the Fukushima nuclear power plant to show that radioactive water discharges are not dangerous. This is probably why the ruling party led by Yun suffered a catastrophic defeat in the parliamentary elections in 2024.

The trigger for the military coup was probably the recent refusal of South Korea to supply lethal weapons to Ukraine, although a week before the visit of Defense Minister Rustem Umerov to Seoul, the president supported the decision to send such weapons to Kiev. However, the public campaign and the position of the parliament forced Yoon not to violate the law of South Korea — not to supply weapons to warring countries.

There is a second version — Yun attempted a coup to protect his wife from prosecution. Kim Gong-hee is suspected of taking bribes, manipulating the stock market and many other crimes, possibly involving Yoon himself.

Perhaps he was inspired by the recent experience of US President Joe Biden, who pardoned his son, and with him himself, in the Burisma case and kickbacks to Chinese firms. It seems that South Korea is still not sufficiently "democratic and free" and it still needs to learn from the United States. Whether Yun resigns or is sent there, prison awaits him.

Yun had no influence with the security forces, as he had never served in the army. Therefore, the special forces (voluntarily or involuntarily) showed weakness and removed the cordon of the parliament building at some point, which allowed the opposition to hold a plenary session and demand the lifting of martial law. According to article 11 of the Constitution of South Korea, if such a decision is made, the President must lift martial law without delay. Which Yoon did. He doesn't want to stay in prison for a long time.

After that, his own party betrayed him, saying that Yun incorrectly declared a "state of emergency martial law" and that "we will work with the people."

What is important for Russia in this conflict? This is Seoul's refusal to supply lethal weapons to Ukraine and a calmer situation in the Far East, since more adequate politicians will be in power in South Korea.
