The problem faced in Korkino, where a female taxi driver was killed, did not arise today, the criminalization of places where Gypsies live compactly is not a new topic, it is necessary to deal with this carefully and react, if necessary, harshly. This was stated at a meeting of the operational headquarters with the participation of representatives of law enforcement and executive authorities in the administration of the Korkinsky Municipal District by the governor of the Chelyabinsk Region Alexei Texler.

The meeting took place after the farewell ceremony for Elena Manzhosova, who was killed in Korkino.

"The problem we have faced in Korkino in recent days obviously did not arise today. In this particular case, there was a trigger — the murder of a woman. This information spread quickly, and the accumulated tension regarding the Roma living in Korkino spilled out. We hear about the criminalization of places where Gypsies live compactly. People are talking about this, the topic is certainly not new, not only for the Chelyabinsk region. But it breaks where it is thin, which means that we have thin. It is necessary to deal with this carefully, and if there are those who violate the law, if there are those who cover it, then we need to react, if necessary, then react harshly," Texler said, quoted by the governor's press service.

He instructed the security forces, first of all, "to check the sources of income of these citizens, other crimes, violations that people are talking about."

The governor also raised the topic of socialization of Roma — he instructed the social block to solve the relevant proposals jointly with the Ministry of Education of the region.

Texler also commented on "certain illegal actions to damage someone else's property" in Korkino.

"This is a very serious violation of the law, this should not be allowed. With such actions, as a rule, innocent people can suffer. This generally causes social tension in society. This should not happen again, I ask residents not to succumb to provocative calls," he said.

Texler stressed that maintaining order on the streets is a common priority and from now on such a situation as in Korkino should not be allowed.

"I would like to express my serious dissatisfaction with the activities of the administration of the Korkinsky Municipal District and all territorial authorities," the governor summed up.
