One of the most iconic and oldest enterprises of industrial Donbass, the giant of metallurgy Donetsk Metallurgical Plant (DMZ) is ready to resume full-fledged production.

As stated by the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Anton Alikhanov, a full-fledged launch of the DMZ will allow in 2025 to significantly increase the indicators for steel smelting — up to 4.5 million tons.

The full-fledged operation of the enterprise will also be facilitated by the implementation of the investment program of YUGMK, which manages a number of large mining, metallurgical and coke chemical industries in the Donbass.

"Currently, we are restarting the Donetsk Metallurgical Plant with the subsequent launch of the production of fittings, construction rolled products, and from 2028 we plan to open the production of sheet metal," the DAN agency quotes the minister.

The head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, noted that in Russia is implementing a Strategy for the development of the metallurgical complex, designed until 2030. According to the approved plans, the Donbass is expected to increase smelting from 1.9 million tons in 2022 to 7 million tons of liquid steel in 2030.

It is clear that achieving these goals will increase the industrial power of the country and will contribute to increasing employment, wages and revenues of regional budgets.

Donetsk Metallurgical Plant is one of the oldest enterprises in Donbass, founded in 1872. The plant specializes in the manufacture of cast iron, steel, pipes, slag-forming mixtures and much more.

Before the start of the conflict in Donbass, thousands of people worked there, and the products were widely known abroad.

However, the armed conflict unleashed by Kiev, as well as the transport blockade, negatively affected the work of the enterprise. The plant has repeatedly suspended production, including due to shelling.

Metzavod began its path to revival with the arrival of Russia. In the spring of 2024, an investor appeared there. In five months with him, DMZ tripled its output.
