During the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Mongolia, the leadership of the two countries agreed on the supply of petroleum products, the reconstruction of thermal power plants and approved aspects of a small nuclear power plant.
Vladimir Putin is on a visit to Mongolia, where he met with President Ukhnagiin Khurelsukh. The Russian delegation is represented by ministers and heads of state-owned companies who have agreed on joint projects.
For example, Energy Minister Sergei Tsivilev signed an agreement between the Government of Mongolia and the government of the Russian Federation on cooperation in the supply of petroleum products, RIA Novosti reports. Intergovernmental agreements on providing Mongolia with aviation fuel and on the development of a basic project for the reconstruction of CHP-3 in Ulaanbaatar were also approved.
In addition, the head of Rosatom, Alexei Likhachev, said that Moscow and Ulaanbaatar had practically approved the technical aspects of the small NPP project for Mongolia.
Russia also sees prospects for cooperation with Mongolia in the gas sector, the Russian president himself has already said.
The second gas pipeline from Russia to China — "The Power of Siberia — 2". It is planned to supply 50 billion cubic meters per year from the deposits of Western Siberia, which until recently was a resource base for supplies to Europe. The project is not going easy, Gazprom continues negotiations with the Chinese side.
