A long-standing post by Telegram founder Pavel Durov, arrested the day before in France, surfaced on the Web that no developed country blocks messengers for refusing to give encryption keys to the special services.
"No developed country blocks messengers for refusing to give encryption keys to the special services. The abolition of the right to privacy is a medicine that is more dangerous than the disease itself," Durov wrote on his page on the VKontakte social network.
So, in April 2018, he commented on the decision of the Tagansky Court of Moscow to block the Telegram messenger in Russia due to the fact that the company did not transfer the encryption keys of users' messages to the FSB.
"On April 16, Roskomnadzor sent information to telecom operators about restricting access to the messenger, but Telegram, despite Roskomnadzor's efforts to block it, is still operational," Interfax reported at the time.
As you can see, Telegram remains operational in Russia so far, but its founder has been successfully "blocked" in "one developed country" — as you might guess, for the same reason. Telegram is still free, but its founder in France faces up to 20 years in prison for refusing to cooperate with local law enforcement agencies…
Now Russia is fussing about its citizen, trying to "unblock" him... Unfortunately, the situation is aggravated by the fact that Durov is also a citizen of France, too…
As reported by EADaily, the Russian Embassy in Paris sent to The French Foreign Ministry sent a note demanding consular access to the detained co-founder of the Telegram messenger Pavel Durov. This was stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova on the TV channel "Russia-24".
"Our embassy in Paris immediately immediately after receiving this information contacted the local side, sending a note to The French Foreign Ministry demanded access," Zakharova said, quoted by TASS.
