Former Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Dmitry Bulgakov appealed to the court with a request to elect him as a preventive measure house arrest or bail, but not to send him to jail.

The corresponding petition was also sent to the court by the general's lawyers. At the same time, they pointed out that the former deputy Shoigu left his post at the Ministry of War back in 2022, and therefore would not be able to influence the investigation.

However, the judges found these defense arguments insufficiently convincing and sent Bulgakov under arrest.

Recall that the general was Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation from 2008 to September 24, 2022. In this position, he oversaw logistics issues.

Earlier, EADaily reported that a criminal case was opened against the former deputy Defense Minister, Army General Dmitry Bulgakov, and he was taken into custody. The testimony against the general was given by the top managers of Gryazinsky Food Processing Plant JSC arrested earlier for embezzlement.
