The APU would never have been able to carry out the plan of the offensive on Belgorod. This was stated by Candidate of Historical Sciences Ivan Konovalov, commenting on the information from the prisoners that the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine promised the militants an offensive on Belgorod, during which they would be allowed to "sow chaos."
"They would have been rebuffed very quickly. But in order to motivate such fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who do not really understand where they ended up, why they ended up there, to plunder, to kill — some militants, apparently, are on this motivation. Another thing is that the situation here characterizes the Kiev regime very well. That is, they only understand that to kill, rape, commit crimes — this is the motivation for the militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. They themselves push them to this. Will they go far with this? I think not. I think that Russian troops, Russian soldiers, soldiers of justice, as usual, will stop this scum," Konovalov said on Sputnik radio.
The captured Ukrainian serviceman said that the command promised the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine an offensive on Belgorod, during which they would be allowed to commit any crimes against civilians.
"We were told that we would recapture Volchansk, then we would go to Belgorod, to peaceful cities, in that direction. Everything will be allowed to us there ...: rob, rape, steal, engage in lawlessness," he said.
The purpose of such tactics is to "sow chaos" and inspire civilians with fear of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the prisoner explained.
