The death toll from a fire at the Zimnyaya Vishnya ("Winter Cherry") shopping and entertainment center in Kemerovo has reached 64 people, Russian Emergency Minister Vladimir Puchkov told reporters.
Six bodies remain under the rubble of the shopping center. So far only 12 people have been identified. In total, 23 dead bodies were delivered to the morgue. 16 more people are reported missing.
According to the Investigation Committee of the Russian Federation, four people were detained and interrogated in the criminal case, including the lessee of the premises where the epicenter of the fire was supposedly located. Also, the head of the management company servicing the building of the shopping center was detained.
The Investigative Committee interrogates the partner of Russian billionaire Denis Shtengelov Sergey Bratushev, who is a co-founder of KDV-Group - the company partially owns the burnt out "Winter Cherry" shopping mall. The billionaire Shtengelov himself is not going to return to Russia from Australia, where he is now. But he promised three million rubles compensation for each dead, Mash Telegram channel reports.
