Residents of the small Greenlandic town of Ilulissat are obviously accustomed to icebergs, but not to the fact that these mountains of ice and snow fall directly on them. But just such a case happened quite recently and right off the coast of Ilulissat. Details are provided by the Giraff Telegram channel.Media.
The underwater part of the iceberg was exposed, after which a large wave rose. Fortunately, none of the Greenlanders were injured.
Experts believe that the iceberg broke off from the nearby Sermek-Kuyallek glacier, which feeds the local fjord, which is protected by UNESCO.
