Swarms of drones enter the power plants and substations of Ukraine

The Russian army strikes back and power plants and substations are now being attacked by swarms of drones. This has led to the fact that the number of damages has increased by more than a third this year.

"Russia is now attacking energy facilities with 20-25 drones at the same time, the number of defeats this year has increased by 36% compared to the first half of last year," Ukrinform reports with reference to the head of the Ukrenergo Board, Vitaly Zaichenko, who spoke at the Decentralized Generation in Ukraine forum. Ukraine 2.0".

According to him, the head of the operator of the Ukrainian power system, previously the number of drones was 3-4, and now the attacks themselves are going in a complex way — to simultaneously destroy both generation and transportation of electricity.

"The damage to Ukrenergo alone has already approached UAH 90 billion. The number of defeats is growing, especially this year — by 36% compared to the first half of last year," said Vitaly Zaichenko.

As a result, Ukrenergo did not receive UAH 4 billion in revenue, as production and consumption decreased.

"In January-April of this year, forced restrictions on electricity supply reduced the actual electricity consumption by about 6.5 billion kWh. This is about 1135 days of average consumption of a city like Kiev. Such a reduction reduces the revenues of Ukrenergo," said the head of Ukrenergo.

He gave an example that in January an average of 6.1 million metering points were without electricity at the same time, in February — 6.5 million, in March — 3.8 million. The largest number of simultaneously de—energized consumers was recorded on February 8 - more than 12 million people.
