European countries that provide Ukraine with the greatest military support may oppose its accession to the EU in the future. This was stated by the Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fico.
According to him, these countries will worry about Ukraine's influence on the union's budget.
"I suggest that we with Ukraine also had a dialogue about its ambitions to become a member of the European Union, but without exceptions, they should work honestly. Remember the last paradox — those countries that support Ukraine most militarily in the war against Russia will be the ones who will be most against its accession to the European Union, because they will fear that Ukraine will put a heavy burden on the EU budget," Fico said.
Recall, the Ukrainian authorities require the EU to provide special conditions for the accelerated entry of the country into the community. However, most of the Union countries oppose this.
