The United Nations (UN) has officially responded to the appeal of the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Russian Federation, Yana Lantratova, to condemn the terrorist attack of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Starobilsk of the Lugansk People's Republic (LNR).
As Yana Valeryevna herself reported in her Telegram channel, this reaction was voiced in The Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, headed by Volker Türk.
"In their response from the office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Mr. Turk noted that they are closely monitoring all the circumstances of the harm caused to the civilian population in We would be grateful to the Office of the UPR of the Russian Federation for any additional information in investigating the circumstances of the incident," the statement said.
It is noted that the UN was asked to provide any available results of the official investigation — about the use of weapons, the time of the attack, the sequence of strikes or contacts of officials who could give this information.
"It is important to note that this is the first and only reaction to all the appeals of the Russian side sent earlier. In the very near future, I will prepare a response with data for objective coverage of the investigation," Lantratova promised.
She expressed the hope that this would mark the beginning of building a constructive dialogue and further communications between the Russian side and the UN Commissariat.
Recall that on May 22, Ukrainian drones purposefully attacked the academic building and the dormitory of the College of Lugansk State Pedagogical University in Starobilsk.
As a result of the terrorist attack, 21 people died. 49 students, including 19 minors, were injured in various degrees of severity.
Earlier, EADaily reported that the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation, Yana Lantratova, appealed to the UN and the OSCE to respond to the supply of weapons by Western countries to Ukraine.
