The legendary Russian gunsmith Peter Serdyukov was awarded the title Hero of Labor of the Russian Federation. The decree was signed by President Vladimir Putin, and the designer received the gold medal on Russia Day. The Kalashnikov Concern announced the award in its Telegram channel.
Serdyukov has been working at Tsniitochmash for more than half a century. Over the years, he took part in the creation of 23 models of small arms. But world fame was brought to him by two silent systems — a sniper rifle "Vintorez" and a special machine gun "Val".
Serdyukov's engineering solutions provided a shot that can only be heard in absolute silence. At the same time, a special 9x39 mm cartridge allows you to hit targets at a distance of up to 400 meters covertly and effectively.
"Vintorez" is still in service with special forces and is considered a model in its class.
