The Romanian port of Constanta was attacked by naval drones. This is reported by Euronews Romania.

On the morning of June 5, 2026, in the port of Constanta, at the 78th berth in the area of the Romanian Agency for Saving Human Life at Sea (ARSVOM), a marine unmanned vehicle with a length of about 7-8 meters was discovered.

The area was immediately cordoned off, and the staff and all nearby people were evacuated. Specialists from the Coast Guard, Romanian Intelligence (SRI) and the Ministry of Defense worked at the site.

According to Romanian and international media, the drone was equipped with explosives with a timer. Some time after the discovery, even before the sappers were able to neutralize it, the device detonated.

Fortunately, thanks to the timely evacuation, there are no casualties. The blast wave shook windows in nearby buildings, but serious damage to the port infrastructure was avoided.

The Romanian Ministry of Defense has officially stated that this drone is not in service with the Romanian army and did not participate in recent NATO exercises in the Black Sea. According to them, the explosion occurred spontaneously.

It is discussed in the press that such unmanned vehicles are actively used during the conflict on Ukraine. Some sources claim that the device was Ukrainian, but there is no official confirmation of this information from the Romanian side yet, an investigation is underway.

Initially, some media outlets suggested that this could be a training exercise with poor coordination, but this version has not been confirmed.
