Presence of French and British vessels in The Strait of Hormuz will entail a decisive and immediate response from the Iranian Armed Forces. This was announced on May 10 by Deputy Foreign Minister of Iran Kazem Gharib-Abadi.
"The presence of French and British vessels or vessels of any other country that may accompany illegal and contrary to international law actions of the United States in In the Strait of Hormuz, will meet a decisive and immediate response from the The Armed Forces of Iran," he wrote on the social network X.
In this regard, countries were advised not to aggravate the situation. Gharib-Abadi explained that the Strait of Hormuz is not the common property of extra-regional powers. He stressed that this is a sensitive waterway adjacent to coastal states, therefore, the definition of its legal regime falls within the competence of Iran as a coastal state.
On May 10, Gharib-Abadi announced that the presence of any foreign ships in The Strait of Hormuz will lead to its militarization. He said that France announced the dispatch of the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle to the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden as part of the efforts of Paris and London to organize a future mission to ensure the safety of navigation in Hormuz.
